Question: do you think our land will ever become one again?

Keywords: , ,

  1. Not sure what you mean, Amber. Do you mean will New Zealand become part of Australia (I think it moves a couple of cm closer to us every year). Or do you mean all the countries in the world were once one big land (called Gondwana) and now have split apart. One day they might collide again and become one. If that happened there would be enormous earthquakes.

  2. I presume you mean the continents, which have drifted apart, so it’s very unlikely they’ll join back together again. The most that could happen is for sea levels to rise, meaning some islands and coastal areas will be covered by sea, but this is far from the idea of the lands becoming one again.

  3. @amberhassett: the tectonic plates of the world have been moving for a long time and will keep moving… while there might be changes over huge periods of time, I don’t think all the land on Earth will ever connect into one land mass again.
