Difficult to quantify. If I am writing a paper them I might do a page or two of writing, lots of reading and drawing graphs and figures to make them look nice. Some days I have meetings or lectures which go for an hour or two, and other days I am working on a instrument, which can take most of the day. Every day is different and I actually think of my day with respect to how many hours I do to get things crossed off my list. Most week days I do at least 9 hours and sometimes I work on weekends to catch up.
