I am pretty sure it is not. There are similar stories in other cultures (the sasquatch in North America, for example). There are probably sightings of other animals (e. bears) in poor lighting conditions.
It is always hard to DISPROVE these things. However, the Yeti is supposed to be at least as large as us, and in a harsh environment probably lives around 40 years (or maybe 80, but unlikely to live longer). Ecology and Evolution tell us a population of under 1000 is in danger of extinction, and below about 200 would die out without help. Now 200 yeti living no more than 80 years means thousands of bones over the years for us to find. Even in the Himalayas, we would have found evidence.
