Seriously, there are a few different kinds of working Police dogs and the Australian state and federal Police use different breeds, so there’s not an easy answer.

Cadaver Detection: these dogs are used to locate dead bodies. They are often labradors or springer spaniels.

Explosive Detection: these dogs are used to locate explosive substances that might be related to bombs or firearms. Again, they are often labradors or springer spaniels.
