I’m a fan of the telescope. That’s one of the tools that I use most often in my job. But whether or not there is one “best” thing that has been invented is hard to say. Probably electricity is near the top of any list of “best” inventions, since it is something that has completely revolutionised the way we live our lives.
@laravdw: Invented? or discovered? I think of scientists as more of discoverers than inventors but I guess they can be both!
I think working out the theory of evolution is a really amazing thing. The process that was gone through, the observations made and how lots of different animals and observations and people contributed to piecing the evolution puzzle together is really awesome!
I’d say any one of many medical technologies but as Kyler said, such useful inventions wouldn’t be possible without being able to generate electricity.
I guess the idea of the wheel, way back before recorded history. Most everything else follows from that.
I’m sure the unknown man or woman who first thought of it (probably just using round logs to move a heave stone) didn’t call him/herself a scientists, but he/she certainly was.
Have you ever thought we really need a separate word for he/she?
